This little ditty called life…

So if figured I should update this severely neglected blog. I think this is the worst I’ve ever don on blogging. Poor Fent-Fry and his lack of updates. I have one in the works though! Anyhow…

We moved the beginning of July into a lovely duplex. We have an awesome open area for our yard and a deck. We love it.

I started working at the hospital again in May. Mike hasn’t been feeling well for a while now and we needed some reliable income. I worked my way into a part time evening position. Right now I’m working pretty much full time because there’s an open position, so I’m getting hours while I can. I’m doing ER registration. So say it has opened my eyes to a whole new culture in the area is an understatement. Always entertaining…

Ki started first grade almost two weeks ago! Where has the time gone? He is SUCH a sweet, loving big brother. He often shares and encourages his little sis and bro. He likes to wake up early so he can get a little screen time. Ha. He is a great reader and is working through a book about Pocahontas for school, reading his daily chapter as fast a possible so he can get to his preferred books.

Ella started writing her name this week! She wants to start school, too. She is getting into all things girly and loves pink and purple. She likes wearing dress up clothes and skirts and dresses. She’s my little snuggle bug.

Fenty is our little goof. Always trying to get a laugh and keep up with his big bro and sis. He’ll get a better update later.

We’ve been having frustrating times with Mike’s disability. They seem to think they overpaid us last year and not paying us until next summer would be a good way to get it back. So. That’s awesome. And not stressful at all. (AKA more forms to fill out.) We are also looking for a new insulin pump supplier because ours got tired of fighting insurance and their ever changing rules. He’s currently doing injections again and I’m hoping and praying it doesn’t land him back in the hospital. His body just functions so much better with that steady drip of insulin. We will see what he ends up with pump wise. We’ve also been checking out diabetic aid dogs. Man, those things are pricey! Mike is also starting to use oils a bit more. Which reminds me…

I’m into essential oils. Like in love. I signed up with Young Living to get a discount because I was tired of being at a loss with Mike and meds. So he’s starting to use them a bit. Praying they will help his health! I love them so much I’ve started selling them, too. So. If you ever want to try them out, hit me up!

As you can imagine, I’m kind of busy. And I miss my friends. We’ve been doing school in the morning and have naps in the afternoon and I often head to work during naps, so I am going through withdrawal. Anyhoo… That’s the deal around here.

life lately

I figured I would write a bit about our daily life for a few years down the road. So…here goes.

Sundays we go to church, then in the evening I leave about bed time and have some glorious time to myself. Sometimes a friend or two joins me.

Mondays we had CC, but that’s been over for a few weeks. So we really have no plans.

Tuesdays we don’t have anything until connection group in the evening. My mom usually watches them and we often have dinner with them before.

Wednesday mornings we have BSF. We usually go over to my mom’s for lunch after and hang out for a bit, then head home for nap time.

Thursdays Ki and I have a standing date during Elle’s nap time. We head to Cafe Milo and I read my BSF and he does school work and listens to audio books.

Friday mornings we head to the library. We usually have to be back by 12:30 so Mike can head to a meeting. Sometimes we hang out with friends in the evening.

And Saturdays we don’t having any set plans. :)

I’m SO exhausted lately. And I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep often…so I sleep in. Ki usually wakes up about 7 or 7:30. I generally stay in bed until Ella gets up anytime between when Ki does and 9:30. Then she comes in and needs tuggoes. And water. She’s my little snuggle bug. :) Sometimes she even gets up and Ki gets them some cereal and I get up a few minutes later. Sometimes sooner depending on what I hear.

The kids are always hungry, so we are early eaters! We eat lunch about 11 and dinner about 5/5:30.

Ella naps at 1 or 2 for almost exactly 2 hours. Ki usually has quiet time and reads, listens to audio books, plays legos/duplos, etc. Lately I’ve been napping often or just having some quiet time myself.

We go for walks nearly every day. Either to Cafe Milo, around the pond, or down Mortensen then State and on the path behind the middle school. Ki rides his bike and I walk and pull or push Ella. Gotta get in shape for this baby!

The kids LOVE to play outside. Ki often goes out to ride his bike multiple times a day. Ella wishes she could, but I don’t trust her out there with just Ki.

Ki reads a lot and Ella follows him around. He is such a sweet big brother and reads to her often. They play together pretty well lately. I’ve been reading to them a lot more lately, too. He has also been doing handwriting and math still (and we should be reviewing CC).

Ella was eating a whole apple that she swiped from the fridge last night. Just carrying it around and chowing on it. So cute. I had to get a picture.

Then she had to see them. Also, this morning she made me die a little inside. We were riding in the van when this went down.

Ella: Momma!

Me: Yeah, Muffin?

Ella: I not Muffin, I Ella!

:( She’s been my Muffin since before she was born.

She is getting SO big and is such a good talker! Then Ki started making his own ‘video’ on a camera he built that afternoon with duplos. He was so adorable with his little interview!

They keep us hopping! The go to bed about 7 or 7:30 because Ki wakes up early every day. The past few nights I’ve been letting Ki read in bed by the light of the window. It has actually calmed bedtime down a lot because he isn’t giving Ella orders of disobedience. Ella is our night owl. They seem to think they need water every night. And Ki usually comes up with some other reason or two to come out. A minute later Ella stumbles out sleepy eyed mumbling her best repeat of whatever he said.

Mike doesn’t really have a set schedule. So I can’t make generalizations about that. He works and sleeps and we love when we get to spend time with him. Cuz he rocks.

Nothing too exciting. Well, except that it’s baby time next month!!

Hi! I’m Caitlin – wife and momma. I love to craft and dabble in some light sewing. I spend most of my day wrangling our little goobers, homeschooling Ki and attempting to keep a semi-clean home. I am blessed to be a stay at home momma!

Mike and I have been married since 2005. After getting married Mike started getting sick. We’ve been though a lot, but God has always kept us afloat and blessed us. Mike is now a super awesome web designer.

Life is never slow around our house. Our 5-year-old, Ki, keeps us hopping! He enjoys going to CC (our homeschooling program) and BSF each week. He is the loudest little people person. Ki enjoys sports, playing outside, shoveling snow, music, art and anything involving other people. He is a constant hummer/singer. He cracks us up daily and loves teaching his little sis new things.

Our sweet girly, Ella, is close to 2! She is so full of energy as well. She’s steadily adding to our funny lists of ‘isms’ that we started with Ki. She loves snuggles, her ni-night, babies, butterflies, cats (recently ‘Hello Cat’), flowers, painting, leggings and all other things girly. She also adores going to visit family and often tries to make plans for us to see them.

We are expecting our 3rd little love in May. We’re waiting to see if it will pick up the crazy gene (or maybe Ki will teach it) and if it will be another Momma/Daddy look alike.

This morning was weird. Today (and the next 2 days) I was off learning more about CC. It reminds me of when I worked full time. Of days Mike was too sick to watch Ki. Of evenings when I didn’t want to go anywhere or do anything because I wanted every second I could get with my baby. Of calling up one of our moms or a friend last minute to try to find someone to take my precious Ki. (more…)

I have a lot rolling around in my brain. Today I am peaceful. Like a huge sigh of relief went through our house.

Mike got paid (woot!). We paid our electric bill. God is good.

We paid our phone bill. God is amazing. Get this. (I may be going a bit too personal, but I just can’t contain how much God rocks.) In the past when our phone bill isn’t paid on time, because – yes – it’s happened before, we’ve only been able to get incoming calls/texts (no outgoing) for a day or so, then they get completely cut off.
